Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

Every year brings about new fashions and fashion trends. I mean which ones do you really follow? Does a person adopt all fashion trends or do you pick and choose the one's that can easily adapt to your already established wardrobe?

Rule of thumb is to follow fashion trends that will easily blend into your wardrobe so that you don't have empty out your pockets to look fashionable.

Trend #1 for the Spring is Lace. This trend can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe. Check out a few inspirations. From left to right House of Sadia , Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, +Burberry+Monique Lhuillier. As you can also see the Long Jacket trend is very apparent in all these looks.

Trend #2 for the Spring is Menswear inspired high-waisted pants. You no longer have to raid your boyfriends’ wardrobe as SS14 took cues from the boys to create stylish menswear inspired creations. This sophisticated trend is perfect for a corporate environment as well as an evening out. A word of advice if your having a hard time keeping up with your crunches keep your high-waisted pants in the darker tones to give yourself an illusion of tight silhouette. From left to right: House of Sadia+3.1 Phillip Lim+Michael Kors.

Trend #3: Chiffon. This trend is perfect for the spring and summer of 2014. Chiffon is best known as a light weight fabric that slims and flatters any silhouette. From left to right: Jasper Conran, House of Sadia, and Oscar De La Renta.

All these trends are perfect for Spring 2014 and can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe. So shop on ladies and build a closet of your dreams.

As per usual all of the House of Sadia pieces can be purchased at the House of Sadia retail website.

HemLines!

Hemlines and Inches. As most of you have probably noticed, on the runway this fall the hemlines have increased a couple of inches. I mean look at Dior's Winter/ Autumn Collection 2013.  The Hemlines are way past the indecent length. Leaving more to the imagination. The way it should be.

Althought deemed the bottom of your skirt a Hemline is very important in terms of the perception of your fashion statement. I must say this hemline is my favorite. So elegant and classy. And I love black, the color is here to stay!

Now certain hemlines go well with certain body types. It has a huge impact on whether or not that skirt will flatter you. The right hemline can make your legs look long and slender, but the wrong hemline can make you look stout or dowdy.

For instance a Mini-Skirt- Mini skirts of course show more skin, creating the illusion of a longer leg. If you have a height of 5'4" (about 163 centimeters) or less, a mini-skirt will work wonders for your length.

If your 5'4 or less avoid midi or maxi skirts.  Longer skirts can have to much fabric which can overwhelm your lower half, making you look short and frumpy. If you do opt for a longer skirt, go for a fitted style that hugs your legs.Try a knee length Skirt if your have wide hips and thighs.

Play with long skirts if you are tall. Long skirts can look elegant on taller women, since the extra fabric compliments their figure rather than overwhelming it. Stick with a hemline that stops just above your ankles. Showing the thinnest part of your ankles keeps your legs looking lean and slender.

Skirts are a huge trend this season so make sure you wear the right type for you body and size!

The skirts and dresses that I have designed for my House of Sadia Collection are in trend with this seasons hemlines! Check out the Sydney Dress and the amazing hemline!! This dress can be worn both ways with the zipper in front as well giving it a more night time look.  LOVE THE SYDNEY DRESS!

Here is a model wearing the Sydney Dress for Jersey City Fashion Week and Atlantic City Fashion Week.

The Elaine Skirt is one of my favorites. This skirt is designed to keep curves in mind! The upper part of this Skirt has boning to keep everything fitted and kept in to give a nice muffin top free silhouette! All around the skirt there are cascading pockets to give your hips more of a curve or to hide the unflattering cellulite. The buttons are handmade and the skirt is adorned with handmade dhabka and stone embroidery. And the hemline is appropriate for all body types! and of course can be customized!

Hemlines below the knee are the way to go for me. And these pockets make this a perfect party skirt! How will you look different this holiday season!

Fashion Week and more...

Tis the season of Fashion Week. I know its been a while since I have posted but I Had a legitimate reason. I mean all my energy was going towards participating in and attending fashion week shows 2013!

This year I had the pleasure of volunteering and Attending Couture Fashion Week New York. Lets just say it was a very exciting moment for me. I met several designers and was able to see designs from various designers around the world and related to different cultures!

Now a majority of the world doesnt understand the time and effort it takes to a get a model strutting down the runway! That quote really does hold merit "Beauty is pain". I was lucky enough to be able to see the step by step process to prepare for the runway.

Unlike other fashion shows there was a team hired to do hair and makeup for the runways. I think everyone really showed their creative sides! The Energy was amazing! Here are a few snaps of the models getting ready! Yours truly was a part of the excitement!

Now All my pictures are of different designers but the one's I enjoyed seeing and thought where really avant guarde where Harumi Momota  and Jorge Afanador. Check out my snaps.....it was a great runway!

As you can see a lot of chiffon and velvets were being used on the gowns. And another surprising material was this cotton woven netting. Very Avant Guarde to me!!

It's really awesome that shows like New York Couture Fashion Week exist, lets all of us come together in huge Designer Melting Pot!

Pencils, Boyfriends and Chanel

Hello ladies, so ive come up with yet another look that can be worn with my  House of Sadia Silk Boyfriend blazer. LOVE LOVE LOVE how the blues and whites look great together a perfect summer look. The Blazer can be worn with a more conservative blouse as well, but both look great with this House of Sadia embellished collar blazer. The stones and embroidery on the collar of the blazer are a bit fancy but since the jewels are a darker color it can easily be pulled off during the day! I mean it’s all about how you feel; when I wear my boyfriend blazer I feel powerful, well dressed and great. Definitely look better than the rest there is no doubt, maybe that’s why? HA!

So the MUST HAVES for your closet - a pencil skirt and a boyfriend jacket.

First, the pencil skirt - if you don't have one get one.  Pencil skirts looks good on everyone, elongates your body, shows off your legs, and makes you look taller.  Buy a basic color first if you are unsure and try it on!! I have created my own House of Sadia version with Pakistani embroidery and stone embellishments will put pictures up soon! This polka dot pencil skirt was sewn by yours truly! One thing to keep in mind is that Polka dots are a bit tricky to avoid looking like a five-year-old, choose simple, sophisticated dots like the ones on this pencil skirt they’re barely visible so they look very classy. The perfect skirt.

Second, the Boyfriend Blazer, which perfectly coincides with several different styles and looks. You can dress it up or go casual. Pants, Denim, skirts, shorts this baby can practically be paired with anything!!!

Lastly, the top I went for a simple white tank since my jacket and skirt were the main attractions to this ensemble! Dressing up my top to much would make this look over done. Try to keep your attire balanced not to little and not to much.

ACCESSORIES: For this look I kept the accessories simple. Love this gorgeous Allie Bag from +BCBGMAXAZRIA  My jewelry was simple “CC” +CHANEL Earrings from the Spring 2013 collection, to complete the look and some leather quilted sunglasses from +CHANEL circa 2007. More outfits to come soon.

Happy Shopping Ladies.
