House of Sadia Peplum Dress

So I've started to dabble in western wear a bit and I absolutely love what I did with this piece. The peplum dress has great history and is a great piece to wear for any occasion. I love designer quality fabrics and embroidery. And I don't mean the mess you get these days from the designers. Half that stuff is made in CHINA!!!! AHHHHH you can't buy from an Italian designer and have your stuff made in china, NO! I'm Pakistani-American so my stuff is designed in the US but made in Pakistan.

The Peplum look is the most well liked silhouette of the season and the fall. The form is catching on, because of its versatility and ability to flatter many shapes and sizes. Also for my peplum I increased the length of the hem a bit below the knee. Feel like it gives it a very classy touch which can be worn for any occasion!

The Peplum is being seen on everyone from Kim Kardashian to Kate Middleton. Its a perfect dress adds curves to a boyish figure, yet at the same time can flatter a extra voluptuous body to stunning effect. It can even be used to hide a baby bump! Just love the peplum.

Of course I had to add my Pakistani touch by adding this gorgeous embroidery and stones detail around the waist and neck to make the dress unique but kept it classy without overwhelming this perfect piece!

You DEFINITELY won't find a peplum dress like this anywhere in the market except for at the House of Sadia.

How to wear that Lace Dress...and Pictures from our trip to the Historical Black Bass Hotel!!

So recently the Hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by taking a short trip to this gorgeous Bed and Breakfast overlooking the Delaware River absolutely gorgeous! It was a 2 night trip very short but well worth it.

The Black Bass Hotel is known for it's gorgeous views and rich history. This hotel dates back to 1745, history says that George Washington was turned away from here because the owner at that time was loyal to the British Crown! So cool, I love exploring places where there is a lot of history and character. We had a gorgeous 2 story suite the whole back half of the room was all windows overlooking the Delaware river and bridge. The Lorraine Suite.

Now Let's Talk about fashion. Since this was a special trip my wardrobe consisted of a lot of lace and dresses, Ha! I mean as a wife I'm always finding ways to keep the hubby excited and having a good time during our trips and well he does the same for me as well :)

This outfit post is all about Lace!!!! There are many types of laces, but you have to be careful with the type of lace you wear. A thick bulkier lace can add thickness to the dress or top and make you look heavier then you actually are. Since, I am on the curvier side I opted for a very thin lace, with a nude silk lining from +ASOS. The only real accessory I added to my outfit was a one black lace gloves, some black pearl earrings from +Nordstrom and nude bow slingback flats from +Nine West. If my ankle was better I would have worn some black patent leather stilletos to match the lace glove. Lace is so powerful in terms of it's presence that it should be used as a main element within your outfit. Adding to much can result in an overload of many styles and the lace can in turn end up looking tacky rather then sexy or elegant. Check out a few snaps of the OOTD!!!

Crop top's and more!

Hey let's talk about trends! Another cool trend this season is the crop top. Now don't worry not everyone has to flaunt their midriff in a crop top! There are plenty of ways to wear this beauty without all that hassle of worrying about baring your essentials in front of the world :)

But a little history first. The crop top is a great example of fashion history repetition, with its first entry to the fashion scene in the 1940’s and 1950’s as a more conservative piece with a high-waisted bottom. Then in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s when hemlines rose and waist-lines dropped with Madonna and “Flashdance” which popularized the cutoff version. Finally, in the 90's with the iconic movie “Clueless” introducing the cropped sweater and a preppy version of this classic. Recently it has been trending on the runways designed by +Balenciaga and Alexander Wang! 

Although I love the crop top I must say this trend is a hit or miss. Which is why a solid investment isn't recommended. Myself being a designer and stylist I tend to find alternative ways to fit trends into my wardrobe. Also being a pakistani female I have a closet full of gorgeous Sari's most of which I have designed myself of course tops that can be transitioned into my American lifestyle and wardrobe. So what did I do I paired this gorgeous House of Sadia Sheer Racer Back cropped Sari top with a  House of Sadia high-waisted Wool Pants. I think they work well together. The Accessories are minimal, since the back is bare and the belt is blinged out. They consist of my Gorgeous +Henri Bendel bag, necklace from +Glamhouse LA. Due to my sprained ankle shoes were more of a must rather then a choice but nonetheless they are gorgeous, nude slingback bow flats from +Nine West, Ring from +BCBGMAXAZRIA earrings +CHANEL. The whole outfit is HOUSE OF SADIA. So ladies get your sari's out and get creative!

A Crop top is very difficult to wear so I suggest wearing it with a high waisted bottom to get that Chic and Modern look it should show your rib cage area at the most. Showing your midriff is only acceptable on the beach even if your sporting great abs. Keep it classy ladies :)

Pakistan Fashion Week. PFDC

Hey All so Pakistan just had its Fashion Week. What did you think of all the designers and what they had to offer? I think this one was the best yet? The amount of creativity and vision that Pakistani designers exhibited in this fashion week is astounding!

And of course what did we see on the runway? A bold western aesthetic with Pakistani embellishments and fabrics! Many of the designs and silhouettes that were seen on the runway really emulated the kind of ready to wear we see here in the United States, with a twist of course. Check Out Fahad Hussayn's Collection and Nikki and Nina as well both very reputable Pakistani designers!

A little critique: my favorite collection was from Fahad Hussayn you can call this sort of a collaboration of Alexander Mcqueen and Chanel but in Pakistan. Dont get me wrong its no where close to the detail they exhibit in their sewing but nonetheless the over all look reminds us of their runways from this past spring. Although the whole collection lacks a sense of cohesiveness, it is still very beautiful! Every piece tells its own story, down to the styling of the garment. This type of collection really requires a lot of universal knowledge about fashion. The mix of patterns, designs and the western aesthetic really makes it a collection that backs Pakistan for being a hybrid country of many different cultures and languages.  Absolutely Gorgeous!

Now of course Nickie Nina, a major fashion house in Pakistan. The collection was a bit straight forward at times a mix of patterns with a western silhouette. However, some of the dresses and jackets that were embellished with pakistani embroidery and laces were absolutely gorgeous where you could tell and say BAM that's Pakistani! of course if you don't believe me check out the snaps below!  

                                     

                                 

And of course I had to feature this piece by Ali Xeeshan. This collection was considered very controversial in Pakistan due to the heart on the sleeve and jewelry adorning the face and head. Women were featured in this collection as exotic and sensitive beings rising to great lengths in Pakistan. 

Needless to say this PFDC Fashion Week designers showcased their collections to emulate the women of Pakistan, their independent nature, modern outlook on society and their desire to be seen as women of power, culture and education.

Outfit Post. Spring: Studs, Spikes, Black and White, and Warm Weather Leather.

Disclaimer: So this post is long overdue. I had a recent foot injury and well that's put me out of the loop, but I'm back and ready to blog FASHION. Also, Since my injury doesn't exactly scream style icon I had this outfit post photographed on my gorgeous antique mannequin.

Now back to Fashion....

Everywhere I turn and look whether its on the streets or on TV I see three major trends actually being rocked for spring season.

1. Black and White. (together these colors are perfection)
2. Studs
3. Warm Weather Leather

I mean look at +Marc Jacobs Intl Model's for Spring 2013 adorned from head to toe in Black and White: Did you also notice the Asymmetrical stripes?

I incorporated this Black and White trend into the Marie Dress by House of Sadia: White Charmeuse Silk with Black Stones and Dhabka Embroidery around the bodice to give it a vest like silhouette, added pleating in the center. A true classic piece in line with the current trends.

I know what your saying leather in the Spring when it's warm??? Well fear not fashionista's this leather is so thin that it will keep you shaded and cool for those warm spring days without the stickiness. For Spring 2013 you see tons of warm weather leather and studs Adorning +Michael Kors Runway.

All these Trends are perfect for the Spring and honestly are very timeless. We've all seen Madonna in the 80's with her studs and spikes. Seen the shift dresses adorning the black,white and stripes in the 60's. So stock up your closets and Happy Shopping ladies. :)

Ever Since Karl Lagerfeld has taken over Chanel, high-end fashion has definitely taken a more mainstream direction! And of course when Chanel follows or excuse me sets trends, no one does ombré quite like +CHANEL. For my last outfit post I talked about the Peplum Top. But I quite sneakily left out the best part of that outfit post. This beautiful CHANEL Pre-Spring 2013 Tequila-sunrise ombré bag. This bag truly depicts a piece of art as much as it is a polished piece of design success. Actually, nobody hits that trendy-luxe note quite like Chanel. It’s a combination all aspire to and few achieve, but if you’ve had any doubts in Chanel’s eternal sense of fresh, just look to their Spring/Summer collection. Its not only the bags that steal the show but the Spring 2013 PRÊT-À-PORTER Collection is absolutely breathtaking! All about the details! Here are a few snaps of the version I bought in White and Gray and the Light Red and White version as well! 

If you are looking for a chic inexpensive alternative here are a few pieces I came across that are absolutely gorgeous and pay homage to the Ombré trend! Take a look at this great bag from +Mulberry its the Ombre Bayswater bag absolutely gorgeous and decently priced FOR Mulbuerry at $1395. Another Bag that I found to be gorgeous and is in the mid-luxury price range is this +L.A.M.B. Ombre Patent Leather Bag and it's very cost effective at $325. But if you still feel that the L.A.M.B bag is out of your range check out this beautiful +Juicy Couture Miss World Ombre Tote, very chic and classy and can be accessorized for any occasion and priced at $198 its practically FREE! Obviously all these suggestions are not chanel really nothing can compare, but these bags definitely give you an alternative to stay in trend! How do you wear that Peplum top?

So yesterday it was 82 Degrees in the Tri-state area a perfect day for a spring inspired outfit post.

Lately I have been seeing the Peplum Top everywhere its absolutely gorgeous and creates a nice silhouette to any figure. There is a super long history behind it as well. 1947 is the year that the craze of the Peplum began and with no other than Dior behind this extravaganza. It was part of the “New Look” silhouette that took to the spotlight of a woman’s waist, it was structured, feminine and most of all elegant. Here is a snap of vintage Dior: NEW LOOK Peplum, so classy. Now check out +Chiara Ferragni in this updated version from her collaboration shoot with DIOR, she looks so fab! 

The peplum top can be worn with any bottom. I mainly have been seeing it with the Pencil Skirt which looks cute but when everyone is wearing it, it becomes a cult like situation if you know what I mean. Also when choosing a peplum top you have to be a bit careful with the type of peplum you choose. There are so many other ways to wear this beauty and if your a mother like me you need to be very strategic on how and what type of peplum top you should be rocking. I mean lets face it after you have a kid no matter how much you hit the gym things just aren't the same anymore. So if you need a bit of coverage high-waisted bottoms are a must with a peplum. To Draw Attention away from your waist try a top where the peplum starts above your stomach. Low sitting peplums do tend to emphasize on the waist and direct the entire silhouette of the mid-section. Here are few peplum tops you can choose whether you need coverage or not that I thought were super cute. Vince Camuto makes this gorgeous cap sleeve peplum top! The Lace is a great touch and is a great trend this season. Definitely can be purchased at +Nordstrom. And of course Since I LOVE BLACK I had to add one and post an outfit on black and white as well. Check out this PEPLUM from Vivienne a UK Based designer. Love the spikes! Notice the difference in the Peplum length and placement on the garment!

A Peplum top is a great way to add a feminine touch to any outfit. Here is how I styled my look. A faux Leather Peplum top from +Forever 21, with a higher peplum of course. The white straight leg trousers are from BEBE. And as you know I am an avid bag collector so I want to welcome my new Chanel Wonder from the Spring 2013 collection. Post up about this bag soon. For my accessories: A +Juicy Couture Jewel Watch, +BCBGMAXAZRIA Perforated medal and leather strap bracelet, and my Tiffany Charm Bracelet, Tiffany for my necklace as well! For my shoes I paired this outfit with gorgeous +GUESS gray suede pointy pumps! So comfy! And of course its Spring so when the chill sets in I always have my Jewel Collared House of Sadia Silk Jacket!
